Hey Sarah, Philippa. Not For the Gym is all about trainers that you can wear everyday, for all occasions. Why do you think the trainer trend has become so huge over the past few seasons?
It’s all about dressing down rather than dressing up these days, looking cool and feeling comfortable in luxe sportswear is much more on-trend than looking like you’ve tried too hard.
What is your favourite trainer trend of SS18?
We’re loving all things monochrome - the black and white Kurt Geiger Linford’s have become our go-to!
“Smart and effortlessly chic, Kurt Geiger Lane are the perfect white trainer for any hardworking wardrobe. We love how well their simple shape and clean lines can be dressed up and dressed down.”
Do you have a go-to trainer styling formula?
Keep it simple and let the trainers do the talking, we love how a trainer works with all our favourite basics for that simple yet chic dressed down look.
What do you look for in a trainer?
A simple colour palette and something low on the ankle as these are always the most flattering.
Which trainer style could you not live without in your wardrobe?
A classic white pair, sparkly clean! They go with everything in our wardrobes.
“This is the WAT way to do bling, with a stripe! We love that Carvela Lustre feel dressier than a plain white pair but aren’t too much. Top tip - style with stripes up top day or night.”
We’re seeing a lot of bloggers and street stylers wearing trainers with feminine dresses at the moment – what are your tips for pulling off that combo?
It’s not something we’ve tried yet but we are definitely going to be embracing more dresses this season. Our top tip would be to make the trainers minimal if you’re going for a pattered dress.
How can you incorporate trainers into a work wardrobe?
We love tailoring with trainers, so a structured blazer and pair of black cropped pants are the perfect way to dress up trainers for work.
“These monochrome and neon Kurt Geiger Linford kicks are our new weekend faves. They are the ultimate spring statement finisher for our skinny jeans and leggings.”
And how would you style trainers for evening or special occasions?
Try a pair with a bit of sparkle! Mom jeans and a slinky blouse with an embellished trainer is just the ticket.
This season’s ‘tech’ sneaker trend can be daunting if you’re new to trainers - what’s a failsafe way to work it?
Blue jeans and a white tee – don’t over think it!
Which trainer style should every woman have in her wardrobe?
A sporty black pair and a crisp, plain white pair - both will take you anywhere & everywhere.
